EV / The Modelers now on the Italian ILI Forecast platform Influcast

Influcast is platform to forecast the evolution of the incidence of influenza-like-illness in Italy by integrating prediction from multiple teams and models. It is coordinated by the ISI Foundation. EV / The Modelers now provides weekly estimates to Influcast.

Through our collaboration with Influcast, our goal is to push the methodological boundaries of mathematical models. Partnering up with our colleagues at the computer science dept. of the University of Bologna, Italy, we are developing a model that combines mechanistic mathematical modeling of epidemic dynamics with deep-learning based inference from data, using physics-informed neural networks.

The interaction with Influcast allows us to assess and improve the performance of our models in a nowcasting scenario and to benchmark them against existing forecasting frameworks.
